Walk For Food this Sunday, 4/26 at WVC

Walk for Food Donations of food or cash will be provided to the
Second Harvest Food Bank.
WALK ANY DISTANCE!
All are invited to attend, so please feel free to invite your
family, friends, and furry friends, too!
For food donations, these are the suggested items (no glass please):
powdered milk peanut butter pasta tuna low sugar cereal
meals in a can (stew, chili, soup) 100% fruit juices in single serving boxes
canned foods with pop-top lids

In addition, cash donations will be
accepted on the day of the walk.

Creek Clean-Up Days with San Francisquito Watershed Project

Please join us for upcoming creek workdays in May. We'll have
workdays on the following dates:
May 2 - creekside weed removal at Georgia Lane in Portola Valley.
This is a nice shady creekside spot! 9:30 - 12:30
May 16 - National River Cleanup Day trash removal at Manhattan &
Woodland in East Palo Alto, 9 to noon
May 19 - "3rd Tuesday" Acterra Stewardship program, somewhere on lower
San Francisquito Creek. 10 am to 1 pm.
Also, we're having a "3rd Tuesday" Earth Day event on April 21 at
Arastradero Preserve from 10 am to 1 pm. If you've attended some
creek workdays, come and check out Arastradero! Bring a picnic lunch
if you can stick around.

Volunteers needed for Register to Vote Rally 9/23 12-1 at SJSU

On Tuesday September 23 from noon to 1 at the San Jose State University Engineering Building, the Silicon Valley Leadership Group is holding a non-partisan Register to Vote rally. Our District and San Jose State are co-sponsoring this event. The CA Secretary of State will be there along with the Mayor of San Jose and (hopefully) some big names from the 49ers and San Jose Sharks.
David Esmaili, Director of West Valley's grant-funded Alternative Transportation Technology program is looking into providing shuttles to take interested participants from our Colleges to San Jose State.

West Valley College Powwow Saturday, 9/27

Volunteers opportunities are available for this year's powwow. Tasks include assisting with assembling and disassembling of the event, general clean-up, monitoring donation drawing and program sales, and assisting Powwow staff and vendors. Available shifts are:
8 am-2 pm
11 am-2 pm
noon-3 pm
1 pm-4 pm
3 pm-6 pm
6 pm-9 pm
8 pm-11 pm
10 pm-1 am

A faculty or staff member will be present during each of these shifts to confirm that the service hours are completed.
